Well I'd say the banking system (and policy) is what hurts.
For instance, the bank here charges a fee every time you withdraw cash from the ATM.
For what purpose I'm not even sure as any types of fees should be for service purposes. Withdraw money from machines they provided isn't exactly a service, that's suppose to be a courtesy, a perk.
If they're charging the fees for the ATM machines' maintenance, I say that's hack as any sorts of maintenance does not fall under the obligations of customers.
For another reason, no agreement was ever made between the customer and the bank for the charged fee, lest a notice. So much for a democratic country.
As for not using banks for five years, yes, I fared so well I didn't even miss it.
Pizz: exactly~! atm's a big culprit.
getting charged to take your own money out of your account
also, i had a friend that got charged for being broke.
gotta keep ur checking/savings amount over a certain set number or YOU get your own money deducted from your account.
Are you kidding me.
Getting penalized for not having as much money as THEY think you should have in it?
Lame.
I didn't use banks for a long time either, but I do know because it's just easier to pay my bills. Most of them are directly taken out of my account. Much easier than having to write checks and money orders and mail them.:)
see lisa, they make it easier for you so you will use the service. i agree, its easier t have it taken directly out of the accounts.
there are good and bad sides to it.
i'd like to see more people using snail mail for letter and bills (using eco-friendly paper of course) :), but thats not where we are.
technology has giveth, tho it also taketh away.
it has its good points
but i'll put up with not having those good sides to avoid the bad, which i think outweigh it.
LOL...That's pretty good, haha.
